Low Lands Suzuka Double Digital 2019Author: Tamar Nelwan, Category: International, 25 Jan 2019, 32767 view(s)
Low Lands Suzuka Double Digital 2019, Friday Paddock notes
At 16:00hrs GMT+1, the first free practice sessions @ Suzuka, Best, The Netherlands, will officially start the 2019 DiSCA competition season
"Officially" as for most of the teams posted below preparations for the season started weeks if not months ago.
Does that mean they're all fully prepped and ready to go? Probably not...
As usually on Friday, the paddock off the Src Eindhoven will be bristling with activity with cars still being finished.
What is finished is the 2019 Spotters guide, which we're most happy to post below. This year we thank Gary Skipp for the design.

The 2019 Suzuka Teams WhatsApp group will go live @ 12:00 hrs GMT+1, this app will be used by the organization for its "official" announcements, notifications and communication with the participating teams. They can use the app to post "official" team status updates.

Looking forward to seeing you all again

on behalf of the SRC Eindhoven

JPVR a rascal bigger than life....Author: Tamar Nelwan, Category: International, 15 Dec 2018, 13952 view(s)
Yesterday (social) media reported the news that Jean Pierre van Rossem a.k.a JPVR, had died aged 73. The fact that he managed to evade the grim reaper's reach until now was, considering his lifestyle, an achievement by itself.

Jean Pierre was a self proclaimed anarchist, Google him and you'll get hits on his life as a former Stock market Guru, Economist, Writer, Politician, Millionaire and F1 team owner, but also that of an Enfant Terrible, Con artist, womanizer and intrigant. Almost every thing in Jean Pierre's live seemed to have been bigger that life, but he always kept his love and appreciation for the small things as well.
One of those things was slot racing, although when Jean Pierre went Slot racing it was always in JPVR style.

Does size matterAuthor: Tamar Nelwan, Category: International, 10 Sep 2018, 19263 view(s)
This question comes up from time to time, more so since the recent flow of articles on the Slotracing LeMans website has been 1/32 oriented. the question raised most often by some of my 1/24 palls is:" Why did I go back to playing with toy cars? This "editorial" I actually wrote as a reply to a post made on Slotforum International where a proud member posted some side by side shots of his 1/32 and 1/24 cars. When I finished the post...I though...
...why not post this on my own site ;)

Slotracinglemans.com 2000 -2018: Time for a changeAuthor: Tamar Nelwan, Category: International, 13 Aug 2018, 11238 view(s)
This website was created at the turn of the century....the twentieth Century.
A lot has changed in the online world since then...which you will definitely notice once you start browsing the site...
...because, besides a minor upgrade in the mid zero's, this website has not.

This Site is not Mobile device friendly (as it was built way before Smartphone and Tablets) This Site has no hot links to Facebook, Instagram Snapchat et all. Posting images and articles still requires some work.

On the plus side
This site will not collect your data on your personal preferences (its to dumb to do so)
This site will not show Google ads for commercial gain (because we're to dumb to do so)
This site still has that one article you were looking for...from 2004 ;)

Please see, treat and use this website like a period Sportscar: It still looks good, it still performs good, but its not on par with the latest technology...which is not always a bad thing ;)

It still does what it was designed to do so, share info between those who want to communicate.

Modern GT Series 2015Author: Willem Kloppenburg, Category: International, 01 Jan 2015, 4418 view(s)
In 2015 a new series will start in Germany called the Modern GT-Series. Alex Ortmann and Nick de Wachter known for organising the OEPS Series the last couple of years, have changed the setup of the series slightly to allow for more competition between slotracing teams. Below you'll find the key concepts of the series.
Notice the Center of Gravity Gauge (tool, measuring equipment) to measure the height of the C.O.G. in the body. This allows basic plastic models like the Scaleauto's to be just as competitive as "hightech" CFK / Carbon moulded models.

Modern GT cars from 2012 today from any 1/1 racing class.
- Bison 2 motor (handed out): Has enough power to be similar in power as the small OEPS motor.
- Procomp 4 Tyres (handed out): Are harder then Procomp3 and will last longer.
- COG (Center of Gravity) Gauge: Will determine the height of the COG in the body.
- BOP (Balance of Performance): Different weights per body.
- Plastic bodies favoured: Plastic versions (Scaleauto etc) may be 3 grams lighter then GFK version.
- Brass chassis: No more expensive exotic materials in the chassis plate allowed (70mm wide).

Calendar
17-18 April, Raceway Frankfurt (Germany)
5-6 June, SRC Niederrhein
30-31 October, SF-Karlsruhe
27-28 November, Renncenter Trier

Le Neuf Heures de Le(eu)warden 12th editionAuthor: Tamar Nelwan, Category: International, 09 Nov 2013, 4006 view(s)
One of the oldest clubs in Holland has, after an absence of 8 years, decided to revived their oldest event. Its a nine hours Endurance (slot)race inspired by Les 24 heures de Le Mans, held in the Dutch town of Leeuwarden. So they baptised it "Les Neuf Heures de Le(eu)Warden".
Its been more than 20 years since its first edition way back in 1992, the event being held for more than 10 years in a row late in the year. It started as a one day event, six teams racing on the six lane Carrera track for nine hours, with one third raced in the dark. As its popularity grew so did the event, in its hay days spanning the whole weekend with 12 teams running in two groups.
It is where we ran our first 1/24 Scale cars (1995), its a Dutch Classic, its our slot-race equivalent of the Indy 500, the Daytona 24 hrs and the 12 hrs of Sebring in one. (actually after 20 years the Carrera track surface is really as bumpy as Sebring )
And now after many persistant but friendly request with some gentle manipulation of the Club owners...its back!

We'll be broadcasting on 3 channels, with some of the racers acting as on the spot reporters. full story...

Very very sad news: R.I.P Salvatore NoveilloAuthor: Tamar Nelwan, Category: International, 18 Mar 2013, 7487 view(s)
On Saturday 16 March the Italian newspaper La Cita di Salerno posted the news of a tragic car accident on the A30 between Mercato San Severino and Castel San Giorgio, the driver was killed his 12 year old son survived. Over the weekend this local news has roamed across slot-fora and websites all over the world.
Why.... because the driver of the car was Salvatore Noviello...lately know as the founder and driving force of NSR professional slotcars, but my last memories of Salvatore go back to before that area. full story...

Filmed report Scaleauto round #1Author: Willem Kloppenburg, Category: International, 21 Feb 2013, 8255 view(s)
"Mirror mirror on the wall, do we ever look at our selves at all"
Well we can now thanks to this great film by Adrie Mouthaan, shot during the 1st round of the 1/24 Dutch Scaleauto GT @ the Slotshop in Zwanenburg....Focussing on the people..not the cars....

The emotion, the passion, the drama..this film has it all..including a great music score....its a classic...in any scale.

Scaleauto Audi R8 LMS (GB)Author: Tamar Nelwan, Category: International, 27 Oct 2012, 6683 view(s)
The Audi R8 LMS is already the fifth model in the Scaleauto 1/24 range. As usual Scaleauto first releases their new cars as a "white kit". First thing that you'll notice as you unwrap the bare bodyshell is how well Scaleauto has managed to capture the brutal shapes and lines of the R8 LMS GT3. The injection molded plastic body has a wall thickness of 0.8 mm, is light, flexible and well proportioned. Besides the main body shell the kit has such a large amount of detail parts, that you'd almost expect to find an assembly sheet.
At times can be a bit of a puzzle to see where exactly which part should go. The advantage is that all parts can be sprayed easily, individually, and in the right color.

Second 1/24 Davic race in CharleroiAuthor: Tamar Nelwan, Category: International, 23 Nov 2009, 11951 view(s)
On November 28th the Charleroi (B) based SRCB will host its second "Systeme Davic" Endurance race for 1/24 modelcars. With its Davic system the SRCB can run up to 15 slotcars simultaniously on their 6 lane Carrera track. Up until 2009 "Davic" racing was the exclusive domain of 1/32nd cars. But after running a succesful 24hrs race with 1/32nd Slot-it Gr C's in 2008 the club figured that their Suzuka shaped track was big enough to "step up a scale" and started testing 1/24 modelcars fitted with the same Davic chip. Its first 1/24 "Davic" race last May was a major succes with a full grid of 15 Gr C cars battling it out for more than 12 hrs.
This time the theme chosen for " Les 8 Heures du Pays Noir" will be GT's and Prototypes as raced in the Belgium 1/24 LMS series. The expexcted difference in speed between the heavier production chassied GT's and the lighter "open class" Prototypes will add even more realism to the on track "traffic "

Both Soul Brothers and RfH will return to Charleroi this weekend to take part in the event. Soul Brother Henri van Gool has fitted a new Plafit SLP1 chassis under their 2009 EEC Acura, while RfH teams up once again with Slot&Scale wizard Fola Osu.
Fola will bring one of his 908 to the track, fittingly clad in "Test" livery as this will be the first roll out of his new LMP chassis.

2009 World to be held in CanadaAuthor: Tamar Nelwan, Category: International, 25 Mar 2008, 21786 view(s)

Hello Racing Friends,

You will find today on the IMCA web site the Official Announcement of the 2009 IMCA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in TORONTO from JULY 27-31, 2009. I would also like to offer my personal invitation to the great racers of Holland ( . . . and all others that are part of this forum) to come to Toronto for this next World Championship. Already 10 of 48 places have filled on this first day . . . so I hope the RFH team and others will preregister quickly for what I promise will be a spectacular World Championship.

Late July is also the very best weather in Toronto . . . and if slot racing is not enough . . . with all of the many beautiful Canadian women enjoying the outdoor cafés and clubs! The specific venue has yet to be determined, however I am looking to secure a nice location that is directly on the lake in the downtown core of the city. And best of all, the Euro is very strong in conversion to the CDN dollar so you will find that Toronto is a good value. I truly hope you will take this opportunity to join us! All the best.

For the FIA GT sprintrace in Alsdorf with its 2 drivers p/car race format RfH not only had to split in 3, but also had to build 2 new cars! RfH #8 willem and Ronald will share the "old" All Inkl #8 Lambo which has been given a major once over, for RfH #28 Gabriel and Tamar are in the proces of adding the last details to an all new Sport 1 R-GT in the 2007 Spa 24hrs colors and Nick.......well Nick has been very busy indeed.

What started as a heavy lump of Japanse resin, a square box that nobody dared to race, a kit that has been deemed out of proportion, out of scale even, has been craftfully carved, cut and crafted over the past few month into this mean machine that will be driven by Nick de Wachter and his slot ega Emily.

So it was only a matter of time before we would go back. When the entries for the race opened 2 month ago, 18 teams subscribed within 10 days. To allow all those teams to participate a slightly different format will be used for the event this weekend.

August has gone by, for some parts of the world it brought soaring heatwaves while other parts were experiencing torrential rain.
On a personal account I spend the last 4 weeks on a well deserved holliday, and believe it or not...while it was on the Adriatic seaside basking in the Montenegrian sun, or enjoying some great pasta & wine in the mountains below Modena......I did not think about slotracing at all...and it was great!!!!!
But hollidays dont last for ever, another summer has past and with September the "R" is back meaning its time to go racing.....
and there's plenty of oppertunity to do so. full story...

Every racer dreams of taking Eau Rouge flat out, it's what draws them from all over the world to Spa Francorchamps. In an era of Mickey Mouse tracks, the Belgium circuit is rapidly becoming a Dinosaur.
Its big, its daunting, its a real challenge to conquer, if not the ultimate challenge.
A Modellcar racer however dreams not of going to the Ardennes..for their Dinosaur lurks in a small German town called Alsdorf.
Within the 50 meters of routed track you'll find the same swerves and challenges as on its Belgian Big Brother.....and in the last week of July.....you can do them both!!!! full story...
