Gear Ratio for Proslot Euro
Kaitsu - 22-10-2006 at 12:26

Hi guys,

what gear ratio have you used in King tracks with Proslot Euro motor?

In Finland we just started to use PS Euro in our cars. I think you use also PS Euro in some classes?

So,

what is weight of these car?
-diameter of rear tyres?
- voltage of track?

Hello Kai

So far we've only had 2 races in the LMS with the pre production Euro MK1 (LMS Min weight is 205gr)
The first was a GT/LMP sprint race with a fixed gear on a 32m Carrera six laner, after some testing we chose 8 x 44.
This was a bit short but we chose it to keep the speeds down and the revs high. Tyre sizes ranged from 27 -28 mm diametre

However this was not really a conclusive result as the power was not really stable (we had to set the power at 17v unloaded which meant that when the cars were on the track the voltage dropped to ± 13volts).

The second race was at the MRTU Blue King, here the gearing was free but most opted between 10x 44-40. Here the power was stable but an unfortunate combination of high voltage (15 volt) and way too much grip (the track hadn't been cleaned properly so the was too much goop residu) made the motors run too hot. Again Tyre sizes ranged from 27 -28 mm diametre

In hind sight (with the experience of both the may Euregiorace and Barcalona I think that with a ratio of 1/4,6 1/4,8 would have been better for a King.

As you may know the preproduction series had some problems with the olites coming loose in the can or becoming disaligned if the motor was not mounted correctly in the bracket. In these cases the motor also ran hot.

The 2nd production run we used in Euregio and the blueprinted motors of Barca no longer had these problems.
For both races the min weight was 200 gr and the tyres were 27,5 mm in diametre.

Last friday we had a short testrun at the Euregoi track at its new location and the cars ran flawlessly on 14,7 v with a 9x44 gearing
