Hi Nick, Tamar, and all others who see this thread.
Merry Christmas and a HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEAR...
I am in the process of assembling one of these..I saw the site, but it is in German which I don't understand.
I need some help to figure out how many of what shims to get the correct ride height for the tires we are going to use in JP's races..
Tamar, you told me that there would be an article about mounting bodies...Is it finished????and somewhere in here???
Does anyone know if the Japanese body is strong enough to race..I see that in the article above that he chose the Revell because it was thicker...Does that mean the other falls apart in the low speed crashes that take place when we race these cars....
Tamar, thanks for setting up user name and password for me...I found the email while cleaning up the slot room..
Any help is greatly appreciated by this old fart...

Hey fred,
sorry about not getting back to you sooner.
Which axle holders do you have?
The SLP Chassis normally comes with 14.3mm (total height /3 stripes) holders in the rear and 6mm axle blocks in the front.

REAR- exmple is marked in yellow on the spread sheet....
The middle of the 14.3 mm holders is actually 10.3mm from the bottom (14.3mm-1mm lip -3mm bearing radius). The Chassis Plate is 1.5mm thick and you want about 1.2 mm of ride height with 27.6mm tyres.... right?
so -27.6/2=13.8 (Tyre Radius) 13.8-1.2=12.6 (Chassis bottom 1.5mm to holder middle 10.3mm with 1.2mm clearance) is height that we want
13.8-10.3-1.5-1.2= 0.8 is the difference in clearance.
With 14.3 holders and 27.6mm tyres you will be 1.5+0.8=2.3mm high. To get down to 1.2 mm you need a 1.mm shim. Ground clearance will be 1.3mm add a 0.16mm shim and you will be down to 1.14mm

FRONT.... check the sheet...

see this

Confused ? So am I. I usually do the trial and error number....

Good luck..
