Wheel fender Ferrari 430

Is it possible to narrow or eliminate this part?

(e) INTERIOR UNDER FONT BONNET - Part L1 should be cut so that the front wheel covers and the base of the dash board are maintained (all the rest may be removed ). The front fire wall may be cut such that the chassis can pass..........

I know the rules, but I send this question to JPVR and no answer.
That small outgoing, forced us to lift the front part car 1 mm.
The race director can think about that small modification.

I believe at this point in time and with only a few weeks to go before the race . . . you will not see any further modifications to the 2008 rule set as posted . . . or war will break out :m16: If you are not in conflict with what is written . . . if you have interpreted what has has been left open to interpretation . . . there is little to dispute at the final hour.

A perfect rule book is a scary thought particularly as an amateur . . . but we will run the F430s again in Toronto . . . so I am sure that some of the rules will get clarified. And pictures are a good way to do it when parts are to be cut and modified. The DPM does this very effectively in their rule set and I am sure that we will come away from this year's Worlds with some experience and clarification for the Ferrari's in 2009.

Wheel fender Ferrari 430

I see in the rule book is allowed a hole 1 cm2 in the top of the wheel fender.
Then the hole can be round or square?
Whats is O.K. in the picture?

A 1cm2 hole by my calculation is either a 1cm x 1cm square cutout or a 3,5/3,6mm dia. round hole.

I think the raised section within the fender is the real culprit in this setup. If you place your hole/cutout in the correct position so as to remove this raised section, then I think the issue will be resolved.

Sorry Mark
But I have to disapoint you, the rules have been changed.
I have no problem with that, but if there is a change in the rules
than there should a mail go out
to all the racers with a clarification why this rule hase changed.

wow

Perhaps this time it was better to start late, like I always do :D I have to start building still for the 430's but, boy, they're already at EVO 3
If the wheelfenders are there to control the rideheight, I could easily have included them on my lexan interiors, if the 'organisers' had asked me too
But now you are allowed to drill a hole, so simple to say that the hole will be drilled directly above the wheel, so you can now lower your car :holy
 sorry Al, build a new car! you should know by now how IMCA works

I agree with Mike on another thread, only at the DPM one finds a professional rulebook.

No ways dude..
Like I said, it's how you inerpret the rules. I got all the clearence I need, with the Fender in place, with no hole drilled..
And it LOOKS right..
PS: you can't lower the car ala low-riders, as the front skirts/airdam won't make clearance.. Dunno wwhat all the fuss is about.

I had a look at my setup again, for the umpteenth time, and it seems to me that the allowance of a hole only assists those that are fortunate enough to have the 3degree cambered fronts. For the rest of us, unless you want to run a very narrow track on the front, we have to be able to NOTCH the wheel fender as shown in Checa's pic on above on the left. As long as you are removing the same amount of material, I don't see what the issue is.
