RfH on tour: Les Neuf Heures Du Vikings

Friends,
for the first time RfH will go on tour without its fearless leader. The car is ready and the racers - Nick, Henri (guest racer from team Dutch Age Racing) and me - are all fired up. Will we be able to repeat a podium finish as we did in the past visits in Denmark's Frederikssund?
Stay tuned for updates from the Viking's dungeon.
Hilsen!
-gabe

The White Mics are also all fired up - and ready for the race - we look forward to share a poduim spot with you again :car:

The other teams have been testing frantically all week - so you have a slight disadvantage, there :bounc:

And the qualifying result is.:

2: Racing for Norway Riley & Scott Mk. II C 6.406
3: Team HMC Courage C52 6.426
4: Racing for Holland Aston Martin DB9R 6.465
5: RaceFun Courage C52 6.500
6: Team Virages BMW LMP 6.557
7: Clerical Racing Porsche 911GT1 Evo 6.563
8: Racing for Vikings Courage C60 7.079

oh boy...

is this going to be a RfH disaster at Viking's???

RfH choose to start in the short sit-out (1-3-5-sitout-sitout-6-4-2-*sitout*). This gave us the opportunity to actually get some good tires prepared and still be able apply White Mouse's tacticts (middle sit-out to let the motor cool down and get a fresh going at the second half of the heat).

Nick´s at the controller for the first stint - and yes, pinion #1 comes off. 15 minutes into the race some Belgian race director hit the wrong button and the stint had to be restarted. Good luck you might say for RfH - but RfH will most likely get a ~20 lap penalty - and this is only fair to the other team which had major problems during their first stint.

Stint is restarted and yes, pinion #2 comes off. This time we're putting a press-on bras pinion and so far it stayed on.

Gabe's on lane 3 struggling with the controller - forgot his one at the home track - duh!!!! Lots of track calls which didn't help finding a good rhythm. Switched to Henri's controller and got much better control over the car.

Right now is Henri on lane 5 making his debut at the Viking's and lap times are competitive.

I'll come back to ya'll after his stint during our double sit-out.

Hilsen!

...before the sit-out we were in 4th position. Now we're awaiting the effects of the second sit-out. So far we've been passed down to 8th place with only 36 laps more then the last placed team. It's only a question of minutes that RfH will crown the last place as 250 laps per stint are the minimum.

White Mouse Jørn :holy helped again with his special mix of tire conditioner. Although the fumes might have an advers effect on the racers :coke:

Enough :comp1: and :comp: it's time to grind some more tires, plan some tactics, or just BS around and get ready for part 2 of heat 1. As you know: it ain't over until the fat lady sings ;)

Gabe reporting again - about to crash physically :coke:

Here are the positions after the first two heats (day/night):

1: White Mouse Racing 2651 laps
2: RaceFun 2646 laps
3: Racing for Holland 2624 laps
4: Clerical Racing 2506 laps
5: Racing for Norway 2405 laps
6: Racing for Vikings 2392 laps
7: Stoneloose Fast Boyz 2377 laps
8: Team HMC 1566 laps (retired with light problems)
9: Team Virages 1566 laps (retired with light problems)

Heat 3 just started. With the reduced numbers of teams we now only got one sit-out. RfH has a comfortable lead ahead of Clerical Racing (even with the not yet applied 25 lap penalty for the first pinion problem during the second stint which was aborted - due to a fat-finger-error by you know who  )

The Aston is holding up superbly - even with a couple of full speed frontal crashes into the boarding due to Gabe's fat fingers :upset:

Henri's piloting now on lane 6 trying to keep the distance to Racefun equal or shortening it. So far he's managing to keep a 1+ lap advantage over Racefun on lane 5. Henri also holding the fasted lap time in the current stint!

Oh - during technical control after the night heat White Mouse's Courage C60 Evo was found too low. Lead was hanging too low and didn't make minimal ground clearance. No penalty other than they're required to come into the pits to fix this problem.
Racing for Norway's Reily and Scott Mark IIIc was found too low but only for the body mount screws. They too have to see the pits to make the screws.

First stint is almost over, two more minutes to go, and Henri maintained a 2 lap lead over Racefun - and now it's my turn to keep it up on lane 4...

Well well well - it ain't over until...

half time for RfH in the last heat, currently on the sit-out.

oh man are we tired - one stint each ahead - looking good for a podium finish - then it's directly back to the airport and hopefully celebrate at the gate until 8am

a couple more seconds and Nick's on for his last stint, then Gabe and finally Henri

another 60+ minutes and there will be a fat lady somewhere... ;)

And here are the results of the Danish Jury, written by just after dropping RfH and RfN off at the airport and looking forward to a couple of hours of shut-eye, before I go console Virages' Teamcaptain with a somewhat guided tour of downtown Copenhagen.

1: White Mouse Racing, 3735 omg. og hurtigste tid i spor 3 af Pål 6.196
2: RaceFun, 3728
3: Racing for Holland, 3681
4: Clerical Racing, 3498
5: Racing for Vikings, 3383
6: Racing for Norway, 3454
7: Stoneloose Fast Boyz, 3344
8: HMC, 1566
9: Virages, 1534

Thanks for a great, fair, and VERY tight and competitive race to all participants - see you again next year at the neuf heures... :car:

Best regards

Hi guys, I´m posting here at Henriks, but it is Pål!! Everyone is asleep here, but I had to pick up my car!

Thanks for a great race, and thanks for coming at all, it is greatly appreciated. I am truly sorry that I will not be at Euregio in two weeks time, but I hope that there will be some sort of updates so I can follow the proceedings!

Oh, by the way, you look like a real nice bunch of "wiseguys" in above shot!!!!

Thanks again, see you around some time.......

Pål

Fantasy <> Real! and the Winner is......?

I maybe mistaken and obviously wasn't at the race so who am I to judge anything for that matter but: DO I SEE ONLY ONE CAR AND A LOT OF FANTASY COLORED CHILD TOYS ON THE TRACK? to the :toilet: with these toys!
If I'm mistaken shoot me but the outcome is:

8 to 1 in favour of the fantasy cars. Looks like RFH drove in the wrong championship:puke::puke::puke:

Hi Willem,

How right you are, poor old Gabe used my pc during the race to post on the LMS forum, and obviously he did not log out the last time he used it;)

So I guess I better admit that I did the post of the following text.:

Hey Willem, thanks for the comment about the cars! I do not agree with you on the beauty of the cars, cause there where three good looking cars, one semi good looking car, one OK car and two crap looking cars!

Now, even in the LMS, not all cars has been true copys of 1:1 cars, and I find that OK. Our car for instance was sponsored by my company Neuco, and for that reason we had a fantasy livery, others had sponsors to cater for and i find that quite OK.

However, in the future, maybe we will see a different livery for our Courage C60!

But as you know White Mouse Racing will be at Euregio with the Vodaphone Maserati!

Well, White Mouse may not show with the Vitaphone version, rather than the Red Bull verion - depending on the availability of decals :coke:

There can be only one Gabe

:):):):);)

  • some cars are nice, some are fast, some are both and some are not

  • they were all built by the team which actually raced them!

  • there has been a race with nine teams

I'd say, let's keep up the spirit and influence the modeling aspect as we go ;)
