Team Austria made a big impact with their first appearance in Hamburg, its amazing how four big guys managed to fit into the narrow cockpit of their Mazda 787b. It was a thirsty bugger too, considering the amount of "fuel" the drivers were taking in.
But once filled up the rotary engine screamed down the long straights, frequently running low 9' sec and occasionally dipping into the high 8'ths. Electrical problems marred them in the night, Austria just missed the cut by a mere 14 laps and finished 6th
