00:00 till 07:00 The long, long night
As the night run started we had a new leader, DVR was back in first position.
The RFH Dome mysteriously losing pace after their pitstop. There was now 5 lap gap and the blue Audi was slowly pulling away.
01:00 AM
Special Frank was steady in 3rd, with Virage and Matchbox were battling head to head for 4th.
Just one lap separating the Blue BMW and Yellow Audi.
02:00 AM
Both DVR and RfH have been in the Pits. This time the RfH Dome picks up 2/10 sec on new tyres and starts chasing DVR.
The Blue Audi losses the lead as its body comes of the subframe. Virage is now 3 laps clear of Matchbox in 5th. MRTU is now in 7th as ALMS drops another 100 laps with their lights failing..again and again.
03:00 AM
RFH 1st, DVR 2nd, Special Frank 3rd. Matchbox has passed Virage for 4th the BMW not happy with the new tyres. Smokey finally has some trouble free runs and stabilises in 6th. With one of their drivers falling ill just before the start, they're down to 3 pilots and no time to sleep.
04:00 AM
Half way point, no position changes, but only because ALMS is already in 8th place. The team has had their worst stint so far, just doing 1 lap in 50 minutes....but they refuse to give up!
05:00 AM
Race positions seem to stabilise, with an average of a 40 lap gap between each of the top three. With Virage slowly dropping back Matchbox is now a secure 4th. Still there's more than 10 hours of racing to go.
06:00 AM
Its light outside, slowly the night is coming to an end. This is actually the most dangerous period of the race.
Fatigue takes its toll and this results in a series of crashes and track calls.
07:00 AM
End of the night period, with the teams no longer required to run their lights ALMS finally makes a full run without pitstops.
