Tech Rules: Request to modify the Schöler Striker55 chassis

On behalf of a team that's scheduled to run a Maserati MC12 in the EEC , there has been a request to allow modifications to a Schöler chassis so that will fit under the body.

The argument being that, without these modifications, the current rules give certain chassis manufacturers an "unfair " advantage.

Reply on both the argument and the request
Measuring both the Striker55 chassis and the Mc12 body (at its narrowest point) I can confirm that with the 55mm wide groundplate there's hardly any room to fit the bodymounts......
But..... A quick search on the web learns us that, besides the Striker 55, Schöler also makes the Striker 50mm groundplate......

..and the the Striker 48mm groundplate.....

Which with a bit of modification to the bodymounts should make a decent fit possible

There's might be an other problem for the Striker55, according to the specs the max wheelbase is only 110mm which is 6mm too short for the MC12 Maserati

But Schöler fans..do not dispair there is the Tigre-P-Profi Kit 48 Art.Nr:20402
For only € 19,95 you've got a fully adjustable front and rear axle, a 48mm wide and 1.25mm thick goundplate, and a wheelbase between 95mm-116mm, rear axle holder 25mm wide, the whole thing weights 69grams.

Given that the rulebook has
Art. 2.0 Chassis, Motor and Gearing
2.1 Make & Type - Choice of chassis parts manufacturer is free. Chassis parts must be from the same manufacturer. Chassis' must be angle/sidewinder type.

meaning that the team is free to choose a different chassis manufacturer...they also have more than enough standard Schöler chassis parts to choose from.

Ruling on both the argument and the request
Argument invalid, request denied. ;)

With kind regards
Tamar

Hello!

It is also possible to extend the Striker wheelbase by using:

90 grad halter Striker Lang Alu Art. 20482 :car:

It is also possible to use a Pla Fit SLP

Kind regards,

Dirk-Jan
