Mold making & Body lamination report - Part 1

Sorry it took so long, but posting more than three words
is a tedious job. Any way you guys should have made the trip....

But before you start make sure you have –

1. All position flexibility
2. A major love for your hobby
3. An understanding wife/girlfriend/partner - Thanks Yinka!
4. Some extra cash
5. Loads of time and patience!
6. 2 or more Steady hands
7. A good collection of swear words
8. Lots of coffee or tea ….. or what ever you are in to

Materials needed.

For the master-

1. A good body that you want to copy, a ready built die cast, a good Resin body, a self made
body or even a body you modifeid your self and would love to drive on your favorite race track.
It should naturally be free of surface imperfections because if not, any thing that comes out of
the mold will have the same imperfections.
2. Milliput, modeling clay (YUCK!!!), sheet plastic, glue and whatever you love to use.. to close up
all body openings so that you don’t get silicone on the inside of the master
3. Sharp scissors, pens and al the stuff you normally use for model building.
4. Epoxy resin & Harder Normal curing.

For the mold-

1. 2K Silicon rubber
2. MDF (or other wood) cut to size so that a box can be built that will accommodate the master.
3. Mixing cps, wooden stirrers, Gloves (no latex content (why?- I cant remember!)
4. A Tupperware box upon which the wooden box can be placed, two bad Bison motors
(we’ll get to that later!)
5. A measuring scale accurate to 0.000001 grams.
6. A old hair dryer …..

For the lamination-

1. Epoxy resin & fast curing harder
2. 2 or more steady hands
3. Brushes, stirrers, a flat dish for mixing,
4. The measuring scale
5. Glass fiber sheets
6. Strands of Carbon fiber

So I think that’s about everything, I now need to
consult my notes ( Hmmmm where are they???????)
and Tamar for the next steps…..
Be patient.
Good things come to those who wait ?

The sequel will be posted ASAP, in the mean time you can try to make sense of the
pix
here….
