Trackowner forbids Speedlines to host LMS
race.
On Jan 10th the LMS O.C made an firm agreement with both Speedlines
and Mr. van Rossem (who owns the Speedlines track) to host the
1st round of the 2002 Le Mans Series.
Unfortunately a row on Jan 23rd over personal posts between Mr.
van Rossem and a individual on the Dutch forum led to an unparalleled
abuse of power in which Mr. van Rossem now specifically forbids
the Speedlines club to use the 8-lane IMCA track for the LMS race.
We regret that Mr. van Rossem who is also acting President
of IMCA, and a proclaimed Promoter (sic) of International Slotracing
uses a personal dispute with an individual as a pretext to cancel
agreements made between Slotrace Organisations.
Using his position at IMCA to cut all ties with the LMS and ban
their racers from IMCA events, he not only tries to deny the LMS
but also the Diepenbeek club of an event that could have opened
a new chapter between the Slotracing organisations.
We see this as a personal mistake by Mr. van Rossem for which
IMCA members and Speedlines are not to blame.
Although these actions prohibits us to race at Diepenbeek, the
1st round of the LMS will still be held in Belgium and on the
same date.
To show that we hold no grudges against IMCA and Speedlines, their
racers are welcome to enter the race.
Details of the new location will be posted this weekend.
