Bison
brings Powerboost to LMS
LMS sportscars stand to gain an extra 10% power as Plafit's MK3 Bison
motor will be introduced as the new control engine for the LMS Championship.
The LMS organization has secured a batch of 75 MK3's by courtesy of Plafit
and its representative Kurt Petry of H+T Motor racing.
The Bison's are now at Tech Director Luc Roels for tests and measurements
and will be sealed with a special LMS sticker.
Power up!
The Bison MK3 uses exactly the same type of can as the SC-02 / Racegold/
Carrera motors, but has more torque, brake and top speed
To give you a quick indication of what the difference is; at 18
volt the Bison feels the same as the old motors at 20!
Power down?
Although (slot) racers always want more power, some concerns have been
made on whether the voltage for the LMS races should be kept at 20 volt.
At teams local tracks laptimes with Bison motors improved by ±0.30
sec... but the harder you go the harder you crash.
At the test day in Kamp Linfort cars were literally flying over the bridge...and
some didn't land softly.
T.D Luc Roels said he will keep a keen eye on the development during the
free practice sessions. Most likely he will set the voltage for the race
at ±19 volts.
