We at Pelican Park Speedway are carrying on a tradition of building and perfecting the art of scratch building brass chassis. This craft started in the US in the early 1960's by dedicated hobbyists, including me, who sought scale appearing model car performance excellence, before the speed craze and associated non scale bodies came to define US slot car racing. Here's a chasis similar to the Ford's, an example of current state of art, that, by the way, only exists in the state of Oregon- no where else.

Yes, in the bottom photo that's a Courage C60 by a kit I bought from TSRF here in the US and is mounted to a scratchbuilt brass chassis as well as the Carrera bodied Audi R8.

Both are 1/24th scale, excellent samples of the cars raced at Pelican Park where its 16-20 members have been building and racing exclusively 1/24th real scale cars for 20 years now, every week! With more than 350 1/24th cars ready to race in our 12 different classes, members capture in miniature the essence of motor sports history from the 1930's to the present. Here's an example of my very competative Open Wheel, "Monza" class machine, a model of Manfred von Brauchitsch's 1939 Mercedes W-154/9 he drove to 2nd place at the August, 1939 Swiss Gran Prix at Bremgarten, in Bern. The car was raced at 1947 and 1948 Indianapolis 500 races.

Hello Todd,

Great looking car! If possible please send a picture of the chassis as well. Do you always use own build chassis or PlaFit / Momo / etc as well? Are the prototypes in the last picture 1/24 as well? Is that a Courage Peugeot in the front? Whitch kit was used? I asume you race Parma 16D motors, is this not to much power for such a car?

I am working on a Maserati MC12 at the moment. Also I hope to get the Maserati coupe in a few weeks.

Greetings from Eugene, OR USA.

There's been some talk and discussion in the US about a Ford GT being set up as a racer and entered in ALMS & at Le Mans in 08. Well, here, applying a little artistic license, is my version, one that might be raced in GT2 ALMS class.

For racing in Pelican park Speedway's GTO class, I used a 1/24th AutoArt body slightly modifed with a wing and front & rear splitters, mounted it to a custom scratch built brass chassis powered by a Parma Death Star, running on Pro Track rims/tires. Afermarket decals to achieve the correct American Le Mans appearance, a Fujimi kit driver.
