Two weeks have past in which I've added the finishing touches to the Viper body.
With the wheel arch extentions front splitter and sideskirts modelled to their correct shape, the body was test fitted once more to verify the correct wheel and ground clearance.

Work now concentrated on the back of the car. With the help of some good reference photo's (mainly from the Le Mans 24hrs yearbook's) the differential coolers underneath the spoiler and the exit duct/ grille in the back panel were added. I saved these small parts for last so their detail would not be lost underneath multiple layers of primer .

The radiators and the rear diffusor came from my left over parts box. 2 rectangular holes were cut in the body for the small radiators made from Porsche 962 oil coolers cut to size .

The Grille was scratchbuildt by layering thin strips of sheet styrene on top of each other (like rooftiles).
The diffuser comes from a Revel CLK GTR.

Rear Spoiler
The resin rear spoiler comes from the Scaleproduction Viper kit and although actually 1/25 still looks in good proportion with the rest of the car.

To replicate the thin spoiler supports I used 0.5 mm clear lexan. First I used a warm plier to bend a rough U shape. Then I trimmed the supports to their correct shape and painted the suports black, but left the clear lexan in between.

Here's a detail shot of how the U shaped spoiler support (0.5 mm lexan) is fixed to the spoiler underside. I've used a dremeltool to cut out a rectangular shape so the support is recessed and flush with the Spoiler underside.
The support is fixed to the spoiler with strong doubble sided adhesive tape (carpet tape).
This way the whole combination is strong, flexible but still detailed to scale.

Preparing for the Silicon Mold
Altough the general shape hasn't changed much in the last 2 weeks, the Viper has gone through several cycles of grinding and re applying filler to get both left and right sides the same shape.

All the openings and the windows were closed with sheet styrene to prepare the body for the silicon mold.

Here's a preview of the Viper RfH will run at the 2004 LMS finals in Leeuwarden.
It show what you can do with an old 1/24 Carrera body some tamiya miliput and a lot of patience.

Most difficult job was making the new front fenders so the car could run on a true scale 81,5mm (instead of carrera's 75mm)
The louvres and panel lines on the hood were first scribed along a ruler with a #11 scalpel and then cut out with a dremel and a very steady hand.
